BEX analysis of a battery sample

Initially, the sample was magnified at 150x. In the greyscale BSE image on the right, it was impossible to detect contamination particles. However, in the coloured BEX image on the left, several potential particles were easily visible for closer inspection. We further zoomed in to 350x and captured an image in which the Fe and Al contaminants were easily distinguishable in the coloured image, which allowed us to focus on the individual elements.
