Asbestos Analysis in the TEM

Asbestos is often analysed using an SEM because of its high resolution and the benefit of chemical analysis through EDS. However, TEM is the preferred route due to superior image and spectral resolution and the ability to obtain diffraction patterns from fibres which adds another dimension to the identification of these minerals.
