AZtecFlex is an individual time limited licence that is locked to a single PC, it is not provided for shared/facility computers. The licence is activated online and by default is locked to the computer used for activation. Where the target computer does not have an internet connection there is an alternative activation process available. The licence is non-transferable. In the event of a computer failure please contact technical support to move/recover the licence to a new computer.
AZtecFlex licences are specifically designed to process data acquired previously or to plan experiments. AZtecFlex will not work when connected to a microscope and cannot be used to acquire new data with our detectors.
A valid licence entitles the user to download the current version of AZtecFlex, which includes any new versions released during the subscription period. The updated versions will include improvements to existing functionality but will not include any new functions that were not in the original release.
If you instead require a perpetual licence for working away from the microscope, for a shared facility, or you are looking to purchase a software upgrade for your acquisition system then please contact our sales team (request a quote here). The functionality of these perpetual licences will be linked to a microscope system.

AZtec is designed to run on relatively low specification computers, however, the PC requirements will vary depending on the AZtec processes being utilised. The minimum specification will perform all but the most demanding tasks. The recommended specification below will handle all applications available in the software.
Minimum specification:
*16Gb is required for large projects or computationally intense processes such as AZtecCrystal, large area mapping or Feature, below this will cause these operations to run slowly or fail.
Recommended:
AZtec projects have significant variability and requirements change dramatically with the application. While AZtec will run on the minimum spec and below, the usability will decrease accordingly. General advice on PC specification is:
Students are the researchers and industry leaders of the future, and we believe they should have access to our software. To support this, we offer a discounted version of AZtecFlex for verified students. The student version includes the full functionality of the elemental and crystallographic package.
Students can be verified by providing proof of eligibility by email at the point of purchase (such as a letter of enrolment, student i.d. card, signed letter from an academic supervisor or other official documentation). This is intended for students in full or part-time education and should not be used for commercial use (students funded by industry are eligible).
In exchange for the discount, we ask that students:
- Usage statistics do not include end user details or personal information
- Usage statistics do not include details of the data been processed
- Usage statistics do not include end user details or personal information
AZtecFlex can be purchased from our e-stores by following the links below. If the e-store is not available in your region, please get in touch with us here. For online purchasing, delivery time will vary depending on local rules and required export checks applicable to your region.
A: 1 per licence. The licence of AZtecFlex is locked to the PC it was activated on.
A: Up to 5 working days
A: AZtecFlex is delivered digitally, in regions with access to an e-store this process is automated. Regional differences mean that some of the control checks may take a few hours. You should receive your digital software activation key within 24 hours (please leave at least this long before contacting support). Orders process via the sales team can take up to 5 working days to be processed, but usually less.
A: AZtecFlex licences are specifically designed to process data acquired previously and will not work when connected to a microscope.
A: The current languages in the AZtec user interface are:
A: Yes, you can activate the licence on a different PC connected to the internet. The activation process will require you to enter hardware information of the PC you intended use AZtecFlex on, this will lock the licence to that PC.
A: No AZtecFlex will only work with Windows 10 operating systems.
A: Please leave a message in the webchat with your contact details or fill out the contact form here and we will get in touch with you.
A: Our e-stores cover multiple regions with variable tax rates and rules, the correct sales tax will be calculated at checkout based on your location.
A: No shipping is charged for AZtecFlex, a shipping fee may show with the product in the basket, but the correct amount (0) is calculated at the checkout page, along with local sales taxes.
A: If you are purchasing as an individual, you can checkout as a guest where these numbers are not required to proceed. If you are purchasing as a business or procurement team, or you need to adjust your tax rating, you will need these numbers in order to issue a correct invoice. We are not able to correct the invoices after order completion.
A: Your order confirmation, invoice and product licence key will be sent to the email address you provide during the order process. The email containing your product licence key will also contain a download link for AZtec and a link to details of how to activate your licence.
A: You can currently only order one licence per transaction. There is no restriction on how many transactions you make. Student discount codes will only work for one transaction.
MapSweeper is not available with AZtecFlex and cannot be added to an AZtecFlex licence. You will need to speak to our sales team to get a quote for MapSweeper.
TruMap deconvolutes overlapping peaks and removes background accounting for the elements present, to produce true elemental maps. This becomes even more important when mapping at low KeV, where the number of available peaks is limited.
This map is acquired at 3 keV and resolves sub 20 nm features. The tungsten (W) Ma peak at 1.774 keV overlaps with a silicon (Si) ka peak at 1.740 keV. Maps with a standard energy window show a W distribution which is a combination of both W and Si signals. TruMap deconvolutes the peaks to give an accurate W map. The presence of the heavy element (W) increases the background signal, even without an overlap. This can create a shadow map, as seen in the copper signal. TruMap accounts for the change in background and adjusts the map display accordingly.
AZtecCrystal is a modern, comprehensive EBSD data analysis software package designed to blend ease of use for relative newcomers to EBSD with an array of advanced tools for expert users. The software has been designed to handle the exceptionally large EBSD datasets that are now commonplace with our latest, high-speed CMOS-based EBSD detectors.
AZtecCrystal will allow you to perform all of the routine analyses that are necessary when processing EBSD datasets, including the creation of maps, analyses of crystallographic texture, examination of grain boundary properties and a comprehensive range of grain measurement tools. In addition, advanced functionality includes the calculation of elastic properties from grain orientation data, advanced phase classification / discrimination and the rapid reconstruction of parent grain microstructures in systems that have undergone displacive phase transformations.
AZtecCrystal is the ideal software for any user wishing to rapidly and effectively process and interrogate their EBSD data.
AZtecFeature is a particle analysis platform that automates the detection, morphological measurement, compositional analysis and classification of particle/granular/inclusion samples. By measuring both composition and morphological information on a particle by particle basis, AZtecFeature allows you to interpret your data in real time with powerful and easy to create classification schemes and data review plots.
All of the automatically acquired data in AZtecFeature is processed with AZtec’s Tru-Q® algorithms to ensure reliability and accuracy in the identification and quantification of elements in your samples – ensuring you get the right results each time.
AztecLayerProbe is a tool for the characterisation of layered thin film structures in the SEM. Working with layer stacks up to 2μm thick, LayerProbe is able to calculate, from an EDS analysis, layer thickness and composition. With proven accuracy across multiple critical applications including electronic devices, material coatings, energy devices and many more, LayerProbe is the ideal tool for both research and routine non-destructive analysis of layered samples – down to a nanometer scale.
